Keith Sharp’s affinity with Celtic music is evidenced by the numerous titles reminiscent of folk styles from the British Isles that he has composed and arranged for string students. Glendalough is Irish in essence. The piece was inspired by Glendalough, a famous historic site and scenic walk located an hour south of Dublin. Often noted as “truly one of the most beautiful places to visit in Ireland”, the area boasts two lakes, streams, fields, and the ruins of a medieval monastery founded by St Kevin in 618 AD. The score is a delight for all sections to play and rehearse. It’s contrasting and memorable tunes will appeal to students from middle to high school.
